We’re inviting directors – emerging and experienced – to submit their vision for GCLT’s 2027 season. Whether you’ve been itching to stage a classic, take a risk on something new, or bring a big musical to the Gold Coast stage, we want to hear from you.

What we’re looking for

GCLT programs a balanced season across genres, forms, and audiences. We welcome submissions across all types of theatre, including contemporary drama, classic works, musical theatre, comedy, cabaret, family theatre, and everything in between.

What to include in your submission

• The production — title, playwright/composer, and a brief synopsis
• Your directorial vision — what draws you to this work and what you want audiences to experience
• Your experience — a short director’s bio and any relevant production history
• Your team –  let us know if you have Musical Directors, Stage Managers, Choreographers, tech crew or anyone else on your team (and it’s okay if you don’t!)
• Practical considerations — estimated cast size, staging preferences, and any licensing or rights notes
• Optional — mood boards, design references, or any supporting materials you’d like us to see

Submissions close — Friday 31 July, 2026
Shortlist notified — September 2026
2027 Season announced — November/December 2026

Who can apply

GCLT actively encourages submissions from directors at all career stages. First-time directors with a compelling vision are as welcome as seasoned practitioners. Selected directors will work closely with GCLT’s production team, with access to our facilities, resources, and the support of our volunteer community.
