This is a classic by Oscar Wilde, one of his first social comedies. A society woman believes that her husband is having an affair, a misconception which may have dire personal consequences for all involved.

A biting satire on the morals of society, one of the best known lines of the play sums up the central theme - 'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars'.
