The iconic Romeo and Juliet-inspired play comes to Gold Coast Little Theatre in January and February 2016. Directed by Kim Reynolds, the much-loved story between two rival street gangs comes to life right here on the Gold Coast.
Set in the Upper West Side neighbourhood in New York City during the mid 1950s, the audience is in for a treat with the set, costumes and musical classics the story includes. The rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks as well as the romance between Maria and Tony has been entertaining audiences ever since the original 1957 Broadway production.
“The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theatre”, Director Kim Reynolds says. Being such an acclaimed musical, Gold Coast Little Theatre is pulling out all the stops to make West Side Story its biggest and best performance for the year.
